My Favorite Instagram Effects And The Love Of Rise

I'm sure that anyone who has noticed my pictures can see that I have a love for Rise. I don't really know what it is about it, but I think it may have something to do with making an image very glowy and ethereal. It's a beautiful effect, and I will never tire of it, and can only hope Instagram will keep making it better. But then again, I do show love to other effects as well.

Inkwell, my black and white and Old Hollywood all over effect, always makes me smile. Sometimes I have to take double the images because it's so nice to have at least one copy in black and white. I think Instagram does an even better black and white then my computer generated effects.

Brannan is becoming a quick favorite now a day's. There's something about how it makes certain parts really dark and other's an almost yellow shade. It looks antique, but not in a super obvious way like Early Bird. It makes things look spooky, like X-Pro II which is also climbing up on my list of favorites.

Now, I could go into an even longer discussion about these effects, but I don't want to write a novel for you guys here. I'll just let the pictures do the talking for me.

Do you guys have any favorite Instagram effects? Share in the comment section!

The Curse Of The " Slutty" Halloween Costume

" Halloween is the one day of the year you can dress as a slut and no one cares," - Everyone I Know

Does anyone else out there cringe when you read that sentence? Yes? No? Just a little? I don't know why, but I just hate the fact that anyone feels the need to dress inappropriately on any occasion. Today I witnessed as three girls paraded down the streets in " Jungle Soldier" costumes that consisted of little more then green bras covered in fake vines, and booty shorts that don't even deserve that name. This is after a snow storm and a twenty degree temperate drop, mind you.

This year I dressed as a physco cop with my friends, with the " sluttiest" part of the costume being our makeup, and later the naughty photos shot using the Instagram App. We put on some overly exaggerated black eye liner, coral lips, blush and spilled some lip stain on our fingers. Our homemade costumes consisted of a blue button down, our skinniest black jeans, our cop hats, and a pair of boots to tread through some slush. I was complemented by most everyone, all wondering If I could arrest them, and yet not one bit of skin was flashing provocatively. Hmmm, so curious!

But anyways, I would love to hear some thoughts from others on what they wore, and what you guy's think about the whole " slutty" Halloween costumes! Did anyone go as something sexy that you want to share, or did you break into other genre's as well? Let me know in the Comments!

Exploring Chapter 1: Salem, MA

So, a couple weekends ago I went on a trip to Salem, MA for an early Halloween trip. Such a beautiful, old world place, no? My favorite time of the year is October, because it just gets so spooky and one seems to be transported back into the days that we believed that there were demons lurking behind the corners, and ghosts in our rooms. Hopefully, you can see what I do when you look at these pictures.

Hope you guy's enjoyed the pictures. Hopefully I will be returning to Salem soon and will think to take many more pictures with my Instagram feature. Unfortunatly, I did not go too many places, and the places I mainly went, I used my normal camera because I wanted my Ipod to listen to on the train ride home. But, does anyone have any good places for me to visit when I do go back? Any suggestions from townies or travel enthusiasts? Tell me in the comment section!

Halloween Modeling

We went as police officer's this year, crazy killer cops to be exact. These are some photo's of us getting ready for a party on Saturday Night. There's a lot of Elizabeth Taylor inspiration going on, alot of diffrent lighting techniques and effects with the Instagram.

Hope you enjoyed the pictures! Such a fun night of playing dress up and taking pictures with the Instagram. Unfortunatly after loading the pictures, they became rectangular and not the perfect squares like Instagram makes them. :(

A Dedication to Older Times

Using Brannan for the top two and InkWell for the bottom, I took these images in a room in front of an open bay window. With natural light pouring in on a beautiful, sunny, fall day and a regular vanity light on in the back, I sought to capture a unique look with my model. Instagram is amazing at close-up shots, and these were no exception to that.

The first picture was captured in a moment of rest, when my model had just put her hand threw her hair, and was massaging the back of her neck. With her made up cat eyes closed, and her mouth slightly slack, she came out looking like a portrait like beauty. The orangey light on in the background gave it just enough of a fashion-like vibe that I found beautiful.

The second picture is one of my favorites. For certain projects I prefer working in my rooms, and since the day was sunny, but just a little too chilly for us, we used what we could to try and make it unique looking. When I look at this photograph I image she's at a movie theater, watching the images play across the screen, enthralled yet just slightly over it.

The final shot came out looking slightly like Edie Sedgwick, no? Both the model and the deceased star share the same love for decorated eyes, and the short gamine look, with flawless skin and just enough of teeth in this shot to spark more interest.

A great thanks for any viewer of these pictures, as they are some of my absolute favorites.

A Quick Introduction and a Promise

As an aspiring Fashion Photographer/Journalist, I have enabled myself with many cameras and tools only to find myself stuck on Instagram. Suddenly, my whole world is turned upside down and shaken up by this app so easily available on my Ipod Touch. As a free product, I expected this thing to suck, and yet it has yet to fail me at all in all the time that I have used it. So, I hope that any reader I am lucky enough to entertain may be able to appreciate the images I create with a 100% promise that the only editing done on these images is the work of the Instagram Filters and by no other means of photoshoping.
